After spending a day in Reedville, VA (N37*50.70/W76*16.90), we moved on to
Deltaville and anchored in Fishing Creek (N37*32.00/W76*20.50) to stay another day.
Wednesday we moved to an anchorage in Mobjack Bay at Put In Creek
(N37*25.00/W76*20.30) where we met a local fisherman who gave us a very
large Puppy Drum fish for our dinner. We had a couple nice meals from
this. We decided that he ought to have a taste of VT and gave him some of our VT maple syrup. He was very excited about it and we told him about our web site.
Thursday we left for Hampton Roads and the town dock at Hampton.
This is very protected and there was a blow coming through. Friday we washed down the boat and everything else. We spent most of the day at it and people walking by accused us of working too long, but we made up for it on Saturday. We rented a
car for Saturday and Sunday and visited Virginia Beach, which Skipper
enjoyed, even with the cold wind and a little rain. We also traveled to
Nags Head and Pea Island on the Outer Banks in NC, before returning to Hampton for grocery shopping. A very full day!
Sunday was as it should be and very sunny, so
we traveled by car to Williamsburg VA and had a very wonderful
experience there.
We watched an interaction skit about the storming of the Governor's Palace over the Governor confiscating colonist's ammunition.
There were numerous skits throughout the day with audience interaction. There was a good one of George Washington discussing the siege of Yorktown and just about anything else. I lasted 45 minutes and really great. We highly recommend a trip there to all.
Monday10/21/13 we started south again and to Deep Creek on the Dismal
Swamp. To any of you that are trying to follow us on SPOT, we
apologize, as some days we forget to turn it on and others we forget to
turn it off. Both have been the case in the past week. We stayed at Elizabeth's dock at Deep Creek and I and Skipper went into town with the bike, me riding and Skipper pulling. Tuesday we continued through Dismal Swamp to the South Mills Lock and tied up at the Bulkhead. Great place to spend the evening. Wednesday we continued to Elizabeth City for the free docks and the Rose Buddies had a wine and cheese happy hour for all the boaters. They are a great bunch of people and are very helpful and generous to all. We had a wonderful surprise, meeting up with new friends from Lusby Richard abd Carol Hackett on their Shannan "Kilissa" and enjoying supper together.
We plan on spending the day here in Elizabeth City, moving on tomorrow.
