Hi all,
We spent a great time at Staniel Cay and moved on Tues Mar 9 to Sampson Cay (24*12.37' N 76*28.56' W) and met up with Cal and Nancy. Cal's thumb is doing well, still stiff and tender, but coming along satisfactorily. Stayed, restocked some supplies, and did laundry. Moved North to get out of another front and spent the nite at Fowl Cay (24*16.466' N 76*32.291' W ). Wind was quite stong 30+ Knots, so we moved to Compass Cay (24*15.348 N 76*30.887' W) on Friday. We are waiting for this to blow through and will head North on Tuesday. The locals say that this is the worst winter they have had in a while. For us on our first time down here we don't realize the difference. We get plenty of exercise dodging fronts, which seem to come every week. It is being a wonderfull trip reguardless of the weather.
One small problem, our dinghy motor has some noise in the lower end and we lost reverse . I think maybe either a thrust washer or bevel gear. No place to get parts, but Chris and Jackie on Higheeled, had a spare 15 Merc and we bought it. It is a couple of years older than our other one but it runs and we will get the other repaired in the States. At least we have two that are the same if something else happens (as long as it isn't the lower end).
Hope all is well with everyone and you are enjoying mud season.
Peace and terwilliger, Fair winds Ken, Francie and Skipper
