We were up and running on Wednesday morning to leave Cohansey River, in th fog. We managed to make the Deleware River in the fog,but dropped the anchor for a while to let the fog lift some. Then another boat came by and we decided to follow as we could see for a way. As we got to the C&D canal we found it closed because of fog, but that opened shortly. We caught the tide right and were able to run through at about 6 kt. We decided to stop at Sassafrass River for the night. Skipper was delighted to have an island to play on. We also met a couple from West Booth Bay Me. on a trawler named Magic.
Thursday we were off and sailing on the Jib. We had a good stiff 15-20 kt from the southwest and beat most of the way to the Annapolis Bay Bridge. We pulled into Gailsville on the West River south of Annapolis and took a mooring for the night at Chalk Point. Friday winds were out of the North and we surfed all the way to the Pautuxant River, where the wind changed to the west. we were able to sail right to the mark for Solomons Island. It was kind of a rocking ride down the Bay, but we were doing 7-8 kt. and made it to the harbor by 1430. We were met at the dock in Mill Creek by Francie's mom, sister, brother and spouses. We plan to stay a few days and then head for Norfolk.
