Feb 10, 2010 Beyond Bimini

Hi Folks,
It has been an interesting time since we left Bimini. Chris Jen and Tropical Breeze left on Monday to Cat Cay and were going to spend the night on the Banks on tuesday. We did a short jaunt to Cat Cay and spent the night on Tuesday . Skipper found a palm tree plantation to run in and was very excited about it. Wednesday we made the run from Cat Cay to Chub Cay so that Skipper would have a place to go ashore. After we passed Nothwest light we heard from Chris Jen and Mike had a terrible day there being sick. We agreed to talk in the AM and if necessary go back for them. They managed to get their anchor up and we met part way to Nassau. Mike was still very sick. We anchored a little west of Nassau and stayed there from Thursday through Tuesday Feb 8th. Mike got better each day and on Sunday we were joined by Tropical Breeze, who had gone north around the Berry Islands and spent a few days there. We did some shopping and rubbernecking for the time we were there. A great beach and this made Skipper very happy. On Monday Mike felt good enough to travel, so we motorsailed to Rose Island on Tuesday and did some snorkeling . We had great wind to head for Allen Cay in the Exumas on Wednesday and sailed all the way averaging 5.5 Kts. This seemed great, we actually had both sails up and used no fuel. Allen Cay with its Iguanas is very nice. It is not such a great spot for Skipper, but we managed to find him a spot. He would love to check out the Iguanas more close, but it is not appreciated as these are an endangered species, and they nest here. The hunters and gatherers went in search of the great conk and returned with six which made a very nice meal of cracked conk We are spending thursday here as the wind is out of the south and plan to move to Normans Cay tomorrow, to wait out a blow from the North.
