We left Ft Lauderdale and moved to Sunset lake in Miami to wait for a favorable crossing to Bimini. We left on Sat the 29th with our friends on Snow Goose and Chris Jen. We left at 0500 and passed through the Venetian Causeway Bridge in to the Government Cut and headed out to sea. About 1/2 way out Barb on Snow Goose called and they had a problem with exhaust and water. their mixing elbow had broke on the exhaust. We pulled to the side and tried to figure the problem, but it was going to need more than our help so they were towed to the Marina. They have had much more trouble with their boat since the new engine was installed than anyone should. They have only traveled from Georgia to Miami and had to be towed in at least 4 times because of the poor installation of the new engine.
Sadly , we left them behind and continued to Bimini, with Mike and Lu on Chris Jen. It was a little more on the rock and roll ride, but we arrived at Bimini early and found new markers at the entrance. What a wonderful site!! Last year it was, " I think this is where the entrance is", and not easy to get in. Bravo Bimini!! We tied up at Bimini Big Game Club which has been host to a lot of great fishing stories, and a few comments from Earnest Hemmingway. Today was spent on the beach swimming and absorbing sun. Skipper had a great time as well, and even went into the water.
We plan to move on tomorrow to Cat Cay and Wed. on towards Nassau. We are in hope that Snow Goose gets repaired and will join us in a few days.
