4/7-4/14/11 Lake Worth to St Augustine Fl.

We left Lake Worth on Wednesday for Stuart - to pick up a new anchor - and did well until the St. Lucie inlet, where there was skinny water about an hour before low tide. We bumped our way up to Stuart and were on a mooring by 1830. After waiting a day for the anchor we found that it was not coming, and moved on Friday to Ft Pierce ....to get it there. We were fortunate to be able to sail a lot of the way. Unfortunate that the anchor wasn't there, but we could pick it up in St Augustine ..... on our way through. (After "chasing" our anchor in the water so much, we are now learning to hurry-up-and-wait for one on land!)
Coco Beach was our next stop after Ft Pierce, and we made it to Ryan's Pub for Stromboli. Thanks to Mike and Lu for introducing us to Ryan's and Stromboli. Our next stop - Sunday eve- was Daytona Beach after a long motor sail. We had a very good stop and Skipper was delighted to be able to run, and chase lizards for a while. The next morning we left for St Augustine with what little wind we had on the nose. It made for a motoring day until the last 6 miles where we were lucky with a beam reach.
In St. Augustine we met up with our good friends from Maine, Barb and Bill Pike on Snow Goose, and spent the evening catching up. We are on moorings here, and the Marina is a great faciity. We are resupplying and - surprise! - waiting for the anchor. Among other things, we have found another used but not abused marine store, which has many great values. The bike will only carry so much though. As there is supposed to be another front coming through Friday, we are thinking of spending the weekend here - there is so much power boat traffic on the waterway on weekends that we sailboats get rocked around a lot, if we don't have to move why bother?? - and besides, St Augustine is a wonderful city, we are really enjoying it.
Later today we will checking out the beach, we are told it is a nice one. Skipper is very enthusiastic about this prospect.
We stayed through mon 4-18 and watched the blessing of the fleet, with many
boats participating.
