3-22-11 Royal Island and Spanish Wells

We left the sanctuary at Hatchet Bay and sailed North along Eleuthera Island past the Glass Window Bridge, where you can see the Atlantic Ocean and Exuma Sound meet . We drove over it on our U Drive trip earlier.
Next we entered Current Cut which is a very narrow passage between current Island and Eleuthera Island. One has to be careful entering to arrive on the right tide and make sure there is no traffic coming from the other way. Our timing was good and we only need to wait for one large motor yacht before entering. After passing through we made sail for Royal Island Harbor. Avery nice anchorage with a large development going on. This was to be a parting of La Bueno Vita and us as they were going to the Berry Islands and Florida. We were to leave late for Spanish Wells as we needed to go ion on a rising tide. After Skippers run ashore and Francie's shell seeking, La Bueno Vita was still there. I asked Peter if he had napped in. They have found another week in their schedule and are coming to the Abaco's with us. Great to have a buddy boat.
Both boats moved on to Spanish Wells and spent the night in a marina as the moorings were taken.. Spanish Wells is very nice with great beaches and beautiful homes. We got fresh fish from the fish market and shopped at a great store for essentials. We also had a great lunch at the Gap. We were able to walk most of the Island and see a lot of it.
