We left Spanish Wells around 0830 on the 24th and set sail for Little Harbor in the Abacos, a 52nm trip. The winds were about 20kts on the beam. As it was a rousing ride Skipper seem a little perturbed, and spent a lot of time between our legs. As we got closer to Little Harbor the winds died a little, but we still made it in 8 hours. We were happy to find a little cove out of the wind and take Skipper ashore. In the morning we took the dinghy into Little Harbor as we would need a high tide to get in otherwise. Randolf Johnson, the sculptor and his family moved there in 1952 from Deerfield Ma. His son is still there and keeps the foundry and gallery as well as a local watering hole called Pete's Pub going.
In the afternoon we sailed north about 10nm. to Black Point Cat and dropped the hook. Francie, Skipper and I ashore to the beach. Low and behold we spotted conch. After locating quite a few we returned and gave some to Peter and the girls on Bueno Vita. After a few cocktails it was decided that Peter and I would go on a foraging and gathering expedition in the am. We found a few more and cleaned them. We then set sail for Marsh Harbor, laundry and showers. Last night we went to the Jib Room for steak barbecue and a Rake and Scrape band. The Highlight being a Limbo dance , which of course Francie joined in. The best of the limbo dancers was a 6 ft Bahamian , who manage to get under a 16" bar, in flames. We have managed to do laundry, groceries and are leaving on the morning tide.
