6/28/11-7/3/11 Castleton to Shelburne Bay

We departed Castleton 0630 and motored through the, Troy Federal lock realizing that our journey would soon be over and we would be back on Lake Champlain for some wonderful lake sailing. Tuesday we traveled to Lock 8 and tied up to the northeast wall for the evening. Skipper loved this as there is plenty of room for him to run. we pushed off after trying to repair the anchor light unsuccessfully. We continued to Chipman Point where we met up with Deb and Kevin Stone for a welcome home drink. Chris and Esther had brought our car over and we went home for the night. Strange feeling being in a bed that doesn't rock. We finnaly found an anchor light, but by the time I installed it, we were too late to step the mast. We stepped the mast on Fri., put the sails back on, and started north on the lake. We stopped by Monument Park on the NY side for a nice evening and a good run for Skipper. Saturday we sailed north to Shelburne and were met by Cris and Ester and Grand daughter Callie. We saw Doug Lang who had returned from the Bahamas around June 1st and had a few stories to tell also. We spent the night on board and traveled to Danby on Sunday.
This has been a wonderful trip and we will love to do it again, but will close the blog until our next adventure. Hope you have had as much fun reading our travels as we have telling them.

  1. I remember well, the conflicting emotions of coming to the end of my journey and am betting you guys have some of the same. I have faithfully followed your blogs and enjoyed your emails and have to say, I will miss living vicariously through you. Welcome home Ken, Francie and Skipper. Let's get together on the lake sometime before the snow flies after you get settled again as landlubbers.

    Fair winds,
    Randy
