On 1/2/15 we left Black Sound GTC and stopped at Crab Cay for an overnite and some dinghy exploring. The bugs on shore were a little more than what we wanted so the dinghy ride was ok. The following day we moved on to Allens Pensacola ( an old US missile tracking station) and wandered there. we posted a sign in the Signing Tree with our boat name and date. the following days were spent beach coaming and checking out the island.
We returned to Powell and then Manjack for the night as we needed high tide to get back into Black sound. It is quite the experience depending on the tide changes to get in and out of places, but we would not be able to see as much without the high tide. Release draws 6ft of water and at low tide coming into Black Sound there is only 4ft 6in. there is plenty of depth after you get inside, its just the entrance that is shallow. We spent a couple of days in Bk Sound and then back to Manjack where we went in to the norther bay and had a wonderful time with fellow cruisers at a beach party with Jeff playing lead and Mike playing harmony on his 12 string.. We returned to Bk Sound on
the 14th and managed to make the bank which is open only thursday's from 9 till 2. Christmas and New Years so that made 3 weeks between opening.
