Ft Monroe Va. to Solomons Md. June 6 & 7
We managed to wake Skipper up at 4:30 and take him ashore, much to his sleepy disappointment. Off the hook at 05:45 and under way with great wind doing 6-7 knots. Mid afternoon we felt the winds getting much stronger and reefed the jib and main. By the time we got to Reedville Va. it was 30Knots. we managed to get into the river and get sails stowed before it got real serious. We located a great anchorage in a ways beyond the fish plant. Great place for dogs also. We left a little later in the morning letting the wind die a little, but it managed to be on the nose so made a long trip to Solomons. We arrived to family waving flashlights to find the dock at Francie's sisters neighbor. We spent a few great days R&R with Susie,Frank,Mom,Nancy &Dick. Poor Dick went in for Hip replacement while we were there, but we managed to take Nancy and him out for a short sail and relaxing afternoon the day before surgery. We managed to restock our larder and visit him in the Hospital before leaving on June 11.
