We hauled anchor at 5 AM after taking Skipper ashore. It was rather a short night after the Dark & Stormy evening with Dean & Sue ending about 12:30AM. We managed to catch the right tide up through NYC and about the George Washington Bridge we were able to go wing on wing all the way to Newburg averaging 7Kn. It was a great run and we did not want to stop. In Poughkeepsie we decided to stop as we were down to 5 KN. Mistake! Mistake!!! The next morning with a favorable tide, but wind on the nose we were only able to get 3.5 KN, so it took a lot longer to get to Catskill Cr. At Riverview Marina, Mike said to get it ready and we would take the mast down first thing in AM. We managed to get the sails off and stays except for the lowers done on thur. Friday we pulled the mast and lashed it to the boat for our trip to Lake Champlain, and motored up to Castleton Boat Club to spend the night. It is not a lot of fun for a sailboat to have the mast down and travel, but a necessary evil to get under the bridges and through the locks.
