11/16--11/18 Coca to Stuart

Once again we opted to leave early, as we decided to try for home for Thanksgiving. Lu and Mike decided to stop at Vero Beach to do some errands, and we continued on to Ft. Pierce. Another good anchorage for us and a great stop for Skipper at a vacant lot of about 20 acres next to the anchorage. We were up at first light and hauled anchor headed for Sunset Bay in Stuart. We made great time with the tide to St. Lucie Inlet and ran against tide and current headed up the river. We still made it to the Roosevelt Bridge by 1100. Unfortunately the unmanned railroad bridge decided to close, and it was 1200 before we got through. Sam at Sunset Bay Marina was very helpful, had a mooring for us and found the paperwork from our past stay, which saved us time. Thus came the busy time as we wanted to leave the morning of the 20th. Laundry, showers and stowing gear, arranging for a rental car AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH. Of all the rental agencies, only one would rent a car to any where near Vermont and the cost was astronomical. After some thought and help from Sam, I looked at Craigslist and found a couple of older inexpensive cars to look at in Ft.Pierce area. To get there Jage a fellow boater we met in Manatee Pocket last year offered her car for Friday afternoon to look at them. This helped to get us moving again. We also heard from Lu and Mike and they were on their way in and needed a mooring. Friday to be a very busy day. A few pictures. Lu and Mike's boat ChrisJen at sunrise and then under sail. Skipper so stressed out that he has to rest his head on lifeline, and mooring field at Sunset Bay
