10/15/15 Elizabeth City to Southport NC
I and Ben dragged ourselves out of Elizabeth City and headed down the Albermarle sound to the Alligator River and the tight section into the Alligator River Swing Bridge. This is one of the first times through this stretch we made it with out hitting bottom. We then proceeded on to the Pungo canal and a long ride to its either beginning or end, I am not sure. We put out our anchor and spent a peaceful night. The following AM we continued onward stopping for fuel along the way. We looked at the weather and decided to keep going as later in the week more storms were promised. We passed Oriental, one of our favorite stopping places continuing to Beaufort NC. Arriving there just before dark and with a running tide we headed out he inlet and continued overnight to Wrightsville Beach and Masonboro inlet. We arrived at daylight and with an incoming tide carried us to Carolina Beach where we picked up a mooring for a few hours. That few hours put us about right for the tide at Snows Cut and a wild ride down the Cape Fear River to South Port. We pulled into Indigo Plantation Marina about 1500 hrs. We managed 158 nm from The Pungo Stop. Time now to get ourselves and Release cleaned up and ready to leave it for a month. We stayed Sunday and I ordered a car for Monday to take us home for a month.
