Sept 20 2015 leaving Chipman Point

I and Ben left Chipman Point after a great Lobster Fest on the 19 with friends and fellow boaters.  Our hosts Pat, Chip and Michelle put on quite an affair with much shrimp, lobsters and steaks.  There were many other dishes brought by them as well as all of the boaters.  the evening finished with a band and a great time was had by all.  Our grandson Ben had agreed to help me take the boat south to a warmer clime, where Fancie and I would pick it up later.  We left on the morning of the 20th with large heads for lock 12, spending the nite there.  Off the following morning and continuing through to lock 5 for the evening.  The next morning in the fog I showed Ben how to run aground and get off as we continued to Castleton on the Hudson.  We were met there by Francie who helped us put up the mast and get the boat ready to travel. The following morning we all departed, Francie for Danby and I and Ben south.  I and Ben motorsailed the Hudson to Poughkeepsie and the Mariners restaurant with an overnite dock for patrons.  We enjoyed Buffalo chicken wings beer and conversation with a couple of other boaters.  They spoke of a front coming in and we decided to check it out the next day.  We moseyed along and stopped at Haverstraw Bay and spent a day looking at the weather and going into town.  We decided to continue to 79 st Marina and wait for a weather window. Upon arrival and a day checking out the beer and Buffalo wings  it was decided to wait a week for the seas to calm down after the hurricane came through.  We called Mema, Francie to come and take us away from the city, which she did.  I will continue upon our return.
